Thanks to Ger of Climb Connemara today I climbed Ben Baun, the last of the CHPs on my list. Ger is an excellent guide. Gave me lots of confidence. Such easy, interesting company, Ger knows so much about the area, the landscape, the plants, the rocks....everything. Great day out. Thanks Ger. Highly recommended. 😀😀😀

Very practical and insightful course for Mounteneering Skills. Ger is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any kind of questions. Would recommend if you wish to improve your mountain skills and get a certificate to boast about!

Four of us climbed the mweelrea mountain with the aid of Ger as our guide.The weather wasn't the best but we had an amazing experience. From beginning to end Ger was informative and extremely helpful and patient. I would use him as a guide again in a heartbeat..

My friends and I climbed .Mwellrea with Ger on the 12th Sept 2025. I wanted to compete the 4 highest peaks and the hike life book suggested Ger. A great choice , he was more than obliging, patient, informative of mountain and fauna . We had a great climb the weather was kinder going up than down. The weather was of poor visibility at times but his reassurance made it so easy. He was in touch previous to the hike on weather update etc. So professional I so look forward to the next hike with Ger

We had a great day with Ger.. we had never done any climbing before & got so much experience climbing, belaying & lots of information.. we found Ger really knowledgeable & very patient, a great teacher, who helped us gain confidence as the day went on.. we were over in the Burren Co. Clare, which is always beautiful. Also we found the day very good value. We would highly recommend using climb connemara & we hope to use them again in the future.

This was the first time I experienced hiking in Ireland - I was seeking to experience the beautiful nature of this landscape in areas that are not easily accessible. Ger was fantastic - he taught my husband and I basic navigation and orienteering skills that we hope to hone once back in the United States. Ger is knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in ways that made our few hours highly educational. I hope to come back for longer hiking trips in the future, and Ger will be the first person I will contact to be my guide.

Along with six others from the Westport Hillwalkers Club, I attended a one-day club leader training course sponsored by Mountaineering Ireland and delivered by Ger of Climb Connemara.
We had a full day and Ger packed in as much as possible from Mountain Skills 1, tailored to our interest in map & compass, navigation and route finding.
After general orientation and discussion of maps and compasses, hiking gear, clothing, first aid and emergency shelters, we headed out in groups of two and three to work on distance/pacing and determining exact locations.
Ger knows his stuff and has an easy way of imparting a lot of information - and was always ready to answer questions. We finished the day with a discussion of handling hazards, group management, and weather apps and we all left knowing a lot more than we started with, and had a good sense of priorities for practice.
Highly recommended.

You just have to explore this course with Ger.

Completed the Mountain Skills 1 course with Ger last weekend. It was a really enjoyable and informative weekend! Ger is a fully qualified Mountain Leader and has a wealth of knowledge. We learnt so much in the two days and he was a very patient instructor with everyone. I really felt that he took the time to make sure that each one of us fully understood and were confident with the content taught, and he gave ample opportunities to practice the skills in real-life too. He was also genuinely interested in making sure we were all safe and comfortable (but still appropriately challenged) throughout the weekend.
I would highly recommend doing the Mountain Skills 1 course with Climb Connemara to anyone who enjoys hiking/walking and wants to become more confident and proficient in their skills and knowledge. I feel so much more confident now in my own skills and look forward to taking on MS2 soon!

We had the most fantastic day with Ger on Mweelrea. He guided us safely up and down the mountain at a pace that suited me. He’s warm, friendly and full of chat about the area. I felt totally safe, even when the clouds and rain swept in and we couldn’t see much. He was always keeping an eye out and knew when I needed a rest stop, without me having to ask. It was the most enjoyable hike I’ve ever done in Ireland, and that was because of Ger !

Had a great day with Ger and Eoin learning bouldering and roped climbing out in the Burren! We learned different skills and techniques and how to get into a good mindset for climbing with a focus on safety throughout. The views were 🤩 Would highly recommend a day out with Climb Connemara!!

Hiking with those at climb Connemara was a brilliant experience, Ger was patient and incredibly knowledgeable! I thoroughly enjoyed my time out in the bens and would recommend them to anyone. Hopefully I’ll get to complete all 12 at some point 🤞🏼
