The Lowland Leader Award is a qualification for those who want to lead groups in Ireland and the U.K. on tracked routes in non serious terrain.
It consists of a 2 day training course, a consolidation period and a 2 day assessment. During a training course we examine group management, navigation, the environment as well as developing leadership skills.
Lowland Leader Award holders can operate on Irelands extensive network of marked trails as well as developing their own routes on the even greater number of tracks in the Irish countryside.
The Lowland Leader Award is particularly suitable for those who wish to work as guides within the tourism sector or for those bringing youth groups on an exploration of the countryside.
Successful completion allows Award holders to become qualified members of the Mountain Training Association and to avail of discounted insurance.
The training course costs €200 and discounts are available when two or more book together as well as for members of Scouting Ireland.
